Farmer’s Markets in Hawaii

There are a variety of Farmers’ & Open Markets around Oahu during the week. Some great ones are held at Kapiolani Community College, Windward Community College, and Haleiwa. You can find vendors selling beef, chicken, and eggs at these markets. Many other markets have good local produce, including amazing fruits.

It’s difficult to find good local animal products on Oahu, but the health food markets listed below sell grass-fed, hormone-free beef from the Big Island. Some also carry free-range eggs from the local islands.

Eggs

Ka Lei Island Eggs
Ka Lei Island Eggs is the only family-owned egg producer on Oahu. Since these eggs are not transported from the mainland, they are fresher and of a better quality. Ka Lei does not use antibiotics or hormones in their chickens and feed. You can find this brand of eggs in various stores, including Down to Earth, Kokua Market, Don Quijote, Safeway, and other conventional supermarkets.

Fish

The best bet for fresh fish on Oahu is to get to know a friend or neighbor who fishes and will sell you the freshest, sashimi-grade fish.
